Darby Armont
MBA, CFA, CFP®
Chief Executive Officer
Darby Armont’s path to CEO of Richard P. Slaughter Associates has been defined by a constant commitment to hard work, integrity, and service. Throughout her career, she has earned a reputation for doing the right thing, building gracious and lasting relationships, and going the extra mile for clients, colleagues, and the firm.
A Phi Beta Kappa graduate of The University of Texas with degrees in Plan II Honors and English, Darby began her career at Janus Mutual Funds during the tech bubble, where she gained an early understanding of how quickly markets, institutions, and investor confidence can change. She later earned her MBA from The University of Texas, became a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional, and achieved the Chartered Financial Analyst® designation.
Since joining Richard P. Slaughter Associates, Darby has mastered and excelled in nearly every aspect of the firm’s operations and the broader wealth management landscape. She began in client operations and steadily advanced through roles spanning client service, financial planning, investment strategy, operations, and leadership. At each step, she developed deep technical expertise while honing the judgment, discipline, and people-centered leadership that now define her as CEO.
During her tenure, Darby has been instrumental in driving the firm’s growth from $75 million to more than $1.2 billion in assets under management across our affiliated entities. That growth reflects not only strong business leadership but also the trust she has earned from clients and teammates through consistency, preparation, and care.
Today, Darby leads the firm with more than 25 years of experience, a rigorous investment mind, and a comprehensive understanding of what it takes to serve clients well. As a member of the firm’s Investment Committee, she brings seasoned judgment shaped by decades of market cycles, firm growth, and hands-on experience across the business.
For Darby, wealth management is both technical and deeply personal. “When a client who has never been fully engaged in their own financial life realizes not only that they are capable, but that the time to act is now, watching them claim ownership of their financial life is why I do this work,” she says.
Her leadership reflects the essence of True Wealth Management™: clarity, confidence, purpose, and a steady hand for each client and employee of the firm. A marathon and ultra-marathon runner, Darby brings that same discipline, resilience, and commitment to leading clients, colleagues, and the firm forward.
