Brooks Slaughter serves as Board Chair and Chief Investment Officer of Richard P. Slaughter Associates, focusing his time and energy on investment strategy and the client relationships he has built over a lifetime in the business.

For more than 30 years, Brooks has helped shape the firm’s philosophy, culture, and approach to client service. As the firm’s longtime President and Chief Investment Officer, he provided steady strategic leadership while upholding the fiduciary standards, disciplined investment process, and deeply personal client care that define the firm today.

A graduate of The University of Texas with a Bachelor of Science degree, Brooks also earned his MBA from the University of Houston at Clear Lake and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ professional. Before entering wealth management, he worked as an engineer with NASA, an experience that helped form the analytical rigor, precision, and problem-solving mindset he brings to every investment decision and client conversation.

As Chief Investment Officer and Chair of the Investment Committee, Brooks oversees the firm’s investment philosophy and portfolio strategy, helping ensure each client’s plan is designed around their unique vision of success. His decades of experience guiding families, executives, and business owners through complex financial decisions give him a rare perspective on both markets and people.

Brooks devotes his energy to the areas where his experience is most valuable: investment leadership, client counsel, and mentorship across the firm. That focus is made possible by the strength of the team built carefully over more than 35 years, advisors and specialists who bring deep experience, collaboration, and continuity to every client relationship.

For Brooks, True Wealth Management™ has always been an ongoing partnership: understanding what matters most to each client, helping them navigate opportunities and challenges, and continually working toward better outcomes. His belief in listening closely remains central to his approach.

“Exceptional wealth advisors listen not just to what clients say, but to what they need,” he says. “They also possess the broad expertise and life experience necessary to address the full spectrum of complex wealth management challenges their clients face.”
